More in the Family
Saturday, a week ago, Annie came home with our family member. Berri, the 8 week old Miniature Australian Shepherd. She is gorgeous. We haven’t had a new puppy for a long time, and have of course totally forgotten what it’s like to have a baby in the house. We are both exhausted.
So now, we have to learn all over again what it takes to make her feel happy, but not too happy. Comfortable to play on her own, but bond happily with us. So many conflicting bits of information, and many people are willing to tell us more stuff to confuse us even more. Don’t smother her too much, let her work for your affection… But she’s so damn cute, all you want to do is cuddle and tickle her.
Now, there are politics involved in bringing a new animal into the house. Especially one that is already inhabited by 20 paws. What the hell is this new thing? Is it one of us? Or one of those? Who is responsible for this? Immediately, Macey got a urinary tract infection. Mochi needed to go to the Chiropractor, and Winston has taken up spraying stuff outside. It was all bound to happen, and highly predictable.
Naturally, we are doing a workshop for a new play, the spring session is about to happen at Firefly, I am trying to sort out work for next year, and I am also directing the Miraculous Mandarin with the ESO. We have to start rehearsals for that as soon as possible, because there will be about 15 minutes where we actually have everyone in the room at the same time.
Then, there is learning lines for Coriolanus, and A Steady Rain. Which will be happening concurrently in May, June and July. And a trip to Stratford another bash at the new thing with Rebecca Northan.
And so it goes.
