We’ve just come home. I went east, Annie went west, I went west to meet her, and then south and then east then north together and now home.
Stratford was awesome. Rebecca, Bruce, Kevin, and Ellis and Renate with An Undiscovered Shakespeare. Improvising sonnets and soliloquy’s with Kate Hennig for three days, and then working on the ever elusive “conversation vs interview”. We had some guests come in who offered greatly of themselves and we made a five act Elizabethan play with their story. Mostly love stories, but sometimes not. We met some absolutely fascinating people who all to a one have and have had amazing lives; and the fact that they shared them with us schmucks was most wonderful.
As part of the deal, we were also able to rifle through the Stratford costume warehouse and use what we wanted. UNBELIEVABLE! Then of course we got to see pretty much any play we wanted. Considering what we were doing it was really helpful to imagine making this stuff up on the fly. As actors, you have to make it look like you are making it up. What better way to do that than to actually do it. Two completely different arts, but with interchangeable parts.
I was convinced that I was on the chopping block every day and that I was totally crap and useless but no one had the guts to tell me. So I just decided to stick with it until someone got up the courage to ditch me.
We will see what happens with it.
Maybe the best part of going to Stratford was seeing so many friends from over the years. So good to see so many people who I am genuinely thrilled to see.
Then off to Nationals to meet Annie and the dogs. Mochi kept looking around for me, so that wasn’t so good when Annie wanted him to run the course. So I was banished, but it didn’t help. But it was fun, and a great event.
Then off to White Rock and the ocean for the first time for the dogs! Sand and tidal pool hopping and stinky salt water dogs. I’d love to spend a little more time there, for sure. Down to the North Face outlet, and hours of meandering near Seattle; drive to Spokane, spend the night; drive to Sandpoint, dog parks and fresh lake water; then home last night through Black Diamond (and a dog park). How can we get to spend more time in Sandpoint?
Now back at it with Skylife looming and Funny Girl after that!
